The last Chester Higgins, Jr. photography exhibit I saw was at the Schomburg maybe two years ago. The theme was on prayer and the photographs were gorgeous works that really lifted me when I saw them. A long admirer of Mr. Higgins, I hope not to miss this rare (?) opportunity to hear him speak about his journey in art. If you're in the NYC-area, don't sleep on this!

An Evening with Chester Higgins Jr. interviewed by Dr. Deborah Willis Saturday, June 24th 2006, 4-6pm

Chester Higgins, Jr. devoted his life to traveling all over the world
to document the African Diaspora in all of its complexities and
splendor. This evening is devoted to the accomplishments of Chester
Higgins, Jr. as he recounts his vast cultural explorations throughout
the diverse African Diaspora. This program will be followed by a book
singing of Chester Higgins, Jr., Echo of the Spirit
